Location: Wheaton, IL

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Reports to: Directors of Program Management

The Brooks Institute for Animal Rights Law and Policy is a think-and-do tank pursuing a paradigm shift in human responsibility towards, and value of, nonhuman animals by advancing animal law, animal policy, and related interdisciplinary studies.

Position Summary/How You Will Make a Difference

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our close-knit team that prides itself on being collaborative and mission-minded. In this role, your keen project management skills will provide critical support to Leadership by overseeing and bringing projects to fruition, advancing the Institute’s mission and goals, and ultimately increasing our impact.

In this key role, you will support projects that equip the animal law community and advance animal law academics, scholarship, practice, and policymaking in a broadly collaborative environment.

You will be responsible for leading our projects, monitoring progress, and advancing our roster of programs and initiatives, providing efficient updates to Leadership.

The ideal candidate is strongly skilled in organization, attention to detail, follow-through, adaptability, and problem-solving, as well as having a genuine desire to advance protections for all animals.

Above all, we are seeking the right synergistic fit for our team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

As part of the Projects team, the Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Amplifying the organization’s impact by acting as Leadership’s support system, allowing them to develop the Institute’s programs strategically
  • Overseeing an internal team and furthering a roster of events, projects, and programming through their lifecycle
  • Fostering a collaborative and positive team environment to promote project success
  • Managing timelines and deliverables
  • Communicating regular progress updates to Leadership
  • Establishing and maintaining process documentation for project management and continuity
  • Ensuring project efficiency and quality control
  • Coordinating with external as well as internal resources to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Content creation including program materials, copy editing, and ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to
  • Conducting research for Institute projects and programs
  • Working closely and collaboratively with the team on the planning, production, and execution of projects and events
  • Performing other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree from an accredited university and 4 years of experience in project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience managing a team
  • Effective people and project management skills
  • Strong organizational, macro-level, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Impeccable time management and prioritization abilities
  • Exceptional judgment and discretion
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds waist-high
  • Will be required to sit for extended periods operating a computer
  • Office environment has intermittent noise, normal in nature
  • Evening and weekend work as required
  • Travel within the U.S required (approximately 1-4 per year)

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
